Supplier Diversity
Supplier Diversity is one goal of many corporate and organizational purchasing guidelines. Corporations endeavor to offer proposals, RFPs, and contracts to minority-owned businesses. Traditionally, these have been racial minority-owned business enterprises (MBEs) and women-owned business enterprises (WBEs). In recent years, more corporations are requesting bids from LGBT-owned business enterprises (LGBTBEs) even though these are not recognized under federal law as a protected class. Once again the business community is leading the way!
Plexus is an affiliate of the National Gay/Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. The NGLCC administers a certification process that starts detailing business information on a form and sending in an application fee. Plexus members who apply will receive a discount on the application fee-which more than pays for the cost of Plexus membership. Plexus can also help the applicant in filling out the form if need be. It is likely that someone from Plexus will also perform the site visit which is the last part of the process towards certification.

Once certified, an LGBTBE can enter information into the national supplier directory and Plexus will add your business to the Plexus Online Directory.
